The Sifco Selective Process is a complete galvanic process to place locally and insitu metal layers. Other name for Selective Plating is brush plating, spot plating or swab plating. This technique is often
used as a repair technique but is also good for OEM. The layers can be deposited with tolerances in less than 1/1000 th of a millimetre. The technique is a "cold" technique. Maximum temperature that can exist is 50o Celcius. The bonding of the layers is Atomic, with adhesion forces between 200 and 400 N/mm2, also on difficult materials such as Aluminium and Stainless Steel. The thickness of the layers can vary between 1/1000 th till 6/10 th of a millimetre but more is also possible. Select Plating is developed in the 30 th by Mr. George Ixci with the deposit of Cadmium layers blind holes, which was not possible in bath galvanic. These Cadmium layers are mostly used in the Aircraft industry. Later this technique is
more developed and nowadays the possibility is that there are more than
100 metal deposits.
On the Base Metal the metal and alloy can be deposited. The Sifco Process has more than 100 different kinds of solutions with their own specifications. These Build-up solutions are high concentrated metal solutions, often with more than 100 grams of metal per liter. With one liter solution an area between 40.000 and 60.000 cm2 can be deposited with a 2,5 micron thick layer. Within the Sifco Process all the pre-treatment and bonding solutions are available to give a good bond on all kinds of metal and alloys. PowerPacks: within the Sifco Process a range of PowerPacks is available with a power between 8 tot 500 Amps. These PowerPacks produces a special controlled ripplecurrent and are stepless adjustable. Some models of PowerPacks are standard useful for anodising aluminium.
The Process knows special solutions for it. On the PowerPacks a special microprocessor is available for an adequate check on the deposited layers. A possibility is that a printer can be connected to the microprocessor for a printout of all steps for quality control.
New!!! A new serie Lightweight Switch mode PowerPacks Available from 15 to 150 Amp.
